Dogs ruled last Sunday during event for good cause

It was a beautiful day.

It was a beautiful day.

Last weekend more than 600 East Tennesseans gathered to celebrate all things dog — and to raise $48,000 to combat canine cancer. Cancer, you see, is the number one killer of all dogs over the age of 2.

The K9 Walk Against Cancer was last Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Cove at Concord Park. It was organized by the Morris Animal Foundation and one of Moxley Carmichael’s clients, PetSafe, was a major sponsor. Because we at Moxley Carmichael are dog lovers ourselves, we formed a team, made special t-shirts for ourselves and our dogs, and headed to the Cove to walk in honor of all the adoptable pets at Young-Williams Animal Center, another of our favorite clients.

It was fun! If you would like to contribute to this great cause, donations are still being accepted for a limited time. Click here for more information.

Randy Boyd said he attended an industry conference a while back and heard someone put down Tennessee as one of the worst states in the country in terms of how animals are treated. “In the animal world, you choose between fight and flight,” Boyd said. “When I heard that remark, I decided to fight.” He is fighting to make Knoxville the most pet-friendly community in America. And he is succeeding. Click here for a story about Knoxville being named the dog-friendliest city in the Southeast.

What a great day! Bella slept the entire ride home and most of the evening. She was so excited she didn’t know which way to go first!

That was a nice article and it was a Great day! Not only will the money help find cures for cancer in dogs, it will help defeat human cancers as well especially in children as their cancers tend to be similar to that of dogs or at least that is what I’ve heard. We’re all in this together. Thanks for the nice pic of my dog Miguel with my hubby!

I love having opportunities to get the dogs out for some socialization, and this was an especially meaningful event for us to participate in.

Thanks to Moxley Carmichael for supporting such a wonderful cause. I’m very proud and grateful to be part of the team — and so were Chloe and Pez!

Hey, Katie: You are right! LB would have loved it. And I didn’t see any other dogs like her at the event. She’s got to come next year!

Lauren: Thanks so much for getting us involved in this and leading our team. It was a blast.
