Girlfriends (and brave guy friends!), get yourself over to the News Sentinel’s Women Today Expo at the Knoxville Convention Center sometime this weekend!
And next year, plan to experience it as I did — during the “Women’s Wine Down” event the night before it opens. That’s when, for $40, you can sample four wines, numerous food offerings and preview the whole show in comfort and relative quiet. The proceeds from the “wine down” benefit the News Sentinel’s Empty Stocking Fund, which provides food and toys to the needy at Christmas.
Here are a few sights from the preview event. But the main event still is worth the price of admission ($8). You can get an autograph from Nicole Anderson, the star of Mean Girls 2; go to cooking classes by Chuck Hughes of Chuck’s Day Off on the Cooking Channel or Jeffrey Saad of United Tastes of America on the Cooking Channel; meet Gretchen Christine Rossi from The Real Housewives of Orange County; meet Mary Constantine, food editor of the News Sentinel, and her fellow “Sister of the Skillet,” Jennifer Alexander of B97.5; meet local chefs Seth Simmerman of Echo Bistro and Wine Bar, and Chester Miller of Bistro by the Tracks; get a make-over, see a pet fashion show and a human fashion show, among other great options. Click here for a complete rundown of activities, schedules, etc.
OK. On to the “wine down.”
