Just a quick post about a few downtown signs that I see all the time and that crack me up every time I pass them.

"warrirors?" This large sign is on the Market Street side of the East Tennessee History Center. I hope they don't try to blame "Dragging Canoe" for it!

"Avalable!" For many months this sign has been in the flower bed in front of the office building beside Ruth's Chris.

Now, I like Pat Summitt as much as anybody. But I don't think Summit Hill Drive, to which this sign refers, was named after her. Just sayin'!
Have a great weekend, everybody! Let me know if you see any other good signs!
My favorite local misspelling is the hand-written sign on orange day-glo paper that often appears in the Fellini Kroger’s meat department:
“Manger’s Special” [complete with quotes]
I’m not sure how the baby Jesus would feel about this!
And Mox, you could do a whole other post on the misuse of quotation marks!
Thanks for the laugh.
Maybe it wasn’t named for Pat, but perhaps we should rethink that.
Mox, this made my day. Here’s one I saw on the door of Dazzo’s Pizzeria: “Experience Chef Wanted.” Jimi Hendrix anyone?
Becky,
Maybe “manger” means to eat here, as in the French.
Then the sign would mean “to eat special.”
Ho-ho.

I highly recommend:

Diana: I’m positive that’s what they mean! Scott: I love that “blog!”
BTW: Got a call late yesterday from Jerry Daves of Wood Properties. He says they are replacing that sign. Not all that happy about the post. But, who knows? Maybe the extra exposure will help get the space filled Hope so. Jerry is a great guy.
