Professional golfers in action Thursday on the 18th green of the News Sentinel Open at Fox Den Country Club. When the rain stopped, it was a beautiful day for golf.

Of course sports fans love the News Sentinel Open, being played at Fox Den Country Club through Sunday. A stop on the Web.com tour, it offers an opportunity to get a firsthand look at up-and-coming professional golfers, guys who could make it big in the next few years.

But there’s a lot for even not such big sports fans (like me) to love. Mainly, it offers all kinds of opportunities for networking and business entertaining. We at Moxley Carmichael decided to go in whole hog because we have so many clients involved. Pilot Flying J is the presenting sponsor. Summit Medical Group is title sponsor of one of the Pro-Ams held in connection with the tournament. And South College sponsors a celebrity shootout and a hole-in-one contest.

So, to take full advantage of the opportunities, Alan Carmichael hosted a team of clients in the Summit Medical Group Pro-Am on Monday, and we bought tickets for the run of the tournament in the Fleming’s Ultimate 100 Skybox, where we will be hanging out and taking guests through Sunday. These are just a few of the options available. All kinds of hospitality packages are offered to fit various budgets. So, here’s a little free PR advice: Get in on this next year!

I’m wondering if the seafood martinis are as good as my martini of choice — rum!

Hey, George: Never heard of a rum martini! (But it probably trumps the seafood.)
