Saturday is starting out with dreary rain, but this morning’s post offers a suggestion for an opportunity that’s dry, indoors and very colorful. Today is the annual Artsclamation! art sale benefiting Peninsula’s behavioral health services.

Now in its 14th year, the event features 34 local and regional artists who are on hand through 5 p.m. today to discuss, showcase and sell their work. It’s important to note, after always being held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral School gym, the 2015 event has moved to a new location – Lighthouse Knoxville at 6800 Baum Drive in Bearden.

I attended the opening reception last night, and it was packed. People stopped in the aisles to greet friends, admire a piece of art and contemplate a purchase. The offerings feature mediums ranging from oil paintings and watercolors to pottery, woodturning and jewelry. Purchases of all items benefit Peninsula, a division of Covenant Health’s Parkwest Medical Center.

Peninsula is the most comprehensive continuum of not-for-profit mental health services in East Tennessee. Its facilities include Peninsula Hospital, a 155-bed hospital providing inpatient mental health services for adults, adolescents and children; Peninsula Outpatient Centers in several East Tennessee counties; and Peninsula Lighthouse, which offers several alcohol/drug programs. They’ve helped thousands of people recover from disorders and dependencies.

I suggest you head over to Artsclamation! now so you can shop this fabulous selection of art for a great cause.
