Les Trois Chefs: good eating for a good cause

If your idea of a good time is tasting course after sumptuous course prepared by three excellent chefs and paired with great wines by an expert, then a fundraiser called Les Trois Chefs is the event for you.

Held last month at Cherokee Country Club, Les Trois Chefs benefits Childhelp Tennessee, an organization dedicated to serving the needs of abused and neglected children. The aforementioned three chefs in this case were Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene in Atlanta, David Pinckney of Cherokee Country Club, and Josh Smith of Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar. Hopkins was a 2012 James Beard Award Winner.

Although there are silent and live auctions involved, the heart of the evening is the food and wine pairings. I thought some of the best food actually was served as appetizers, as you will see here. I mean fried pimento cheese balls? Really? Wow.I enjoyed the Ruffino prosecco with my fried pimento cheese, but other offerings included 2010 Nobilo Icon sauvignon blanc and 2011 Nobilo Icon pinot noir. There also was a drink called a Hong Kong Sunset, which was a spicy gin drink, and a Bentonhattan made with Benton’s bacon-infused Four Roses bourbon. Or you could get your Four Roses Single Barrel just served on the rocks.

Stephanie Perdue was brave enough to sample a Bentonhattan!

This was such a fun event! And I laughed out loud with the picture of Scott and former intern! Just made me think “intern scandal”. Ha!

Have missed it for the last two years. One of my favorites as it usually ends with “ice wine” and you know how I love that.

As a matter of fact, Mickey, it did end with ice wine — which always makes me think of you!
