Phyllis Nichols is an exremely intelligent, passionate, and creative woman. She has emerged as an outstanding leader in Tennessee and now on the national front. Such nice things were said about her in the article and she deserves them all.

I’ve known Nichols family for over 20 years now I think… we attended the same church and I went to high school with her daughters. They have always been upstanding family and I’m really proud of all Mrs. Nichols accomplishments with the Urban League. I wish her and her family all the best and hope that she continues to touch people in the Knoxville area and beyond.

These accolades are terrific and Phyllis certainly deserves them. However Phyllis is much more that that. She is fair in every way. Whenever there’s a tough decision to be made Phyllis always does what is fair. To me I can’t think of a more important quality in a leader. I have enjoyed working with her in our community and consider myself blessed with her friendship.

I have seen a lot of things written about the wondrous Phyllis Nichols, but this is by far the best. She is dedicated to her mission and has a strong business sense. The results produced by our local Urban League affiliate speak for themselves–people in their homes, getting jobs, children learning to read, youth given a chance at a bright future–all these and more because of one woman who never loses sight of the real goal. Congratulations, Phyllis. You are one of the people I am grateful for. I’ve always said our Urban League is about a hand up, not a hand out. Thanks for making it true.

This recognition could not be bestowed on anyone more deserving than Phyllis. Our region is blessed to have someone with the passion, vision, and leadership to help others and make a lasting contribution to the lives of those she serves.
