Downtown party poopers

Wanna see a good fight? Read this post thread on The Blab.

Few things get people angrier than the subject of dog poop – and people who don’t clean up after their dogs.

Earlier this week, I wrote about an “almost perfect” weekend we had in downtown Knoxville. I left out one part – the “almost” part. It was when a bunch of us left our condo on Church Avenue at 7:30 on Saturday evening to walk the two blocks to The Square Room for Stephen Hunley’s CD release party.

Just as we left, it began to rain. And, at about the same time, we noticed the piles of dog poop all over the sidewalks on Market Street — and we began to walk very gingerly. The rain picked up and, well, you know . . .

I agree with some folks on The Blab. If the powers that be allow a dog event on Market Square, such as Bark in the Park After Dark, which was the event held Saturday, the laws requiring picking up after your dog should be enforced.

As for those who think the police should concentrate on more serious “crimes,” I would point out that a police officer had plenty of time Saturday to ticket the illegally parked cars on Union Avenue during the Market Square Farmers’ Market. The dog poop problem is at least that serious.

Not picking up after your dog in a public space is just irresponsible. Takes no time at all to jam a few plastic bags (or, for the environmentally correct, paper towel) in your pocket before heading out.

Shame that some people are so inconsiderate… it casts a blight on the rest of us proud pup owners.

No S_ _t Cynthia. I couldn’t believe the amount of doggy KaKa from the parking garage, up Union and on the Square. From the pation at Cafe’4, Folks were actually wagering on one large pile on and if the innocent walkers would accidentally step upon it unknowingly.

Not to Poo Poo any event on the Square, but well placed “picker uppers” would have been a nice addition with this event. No pun intended, but I gotta run. 🙂
